The arts are an essential part of Duke life. Whether it's a performance by a world-renowned musician, a student-produced hip-hop show, or an experimental theater piece, there is so much to see, do, and be a part of here. And it's all at your fingertips.

  • Duke offers hundreds of classes, as well as majors, minors and certificate programs, in Art and Art History, Music, Theater Studies, Dance and Film/Video/Digital. Learn more about majoring in the arts at Duke.
  • Want to sing, dance, act and play? There are dozens of arts and performance groups on campus.
  • Check the Arts Calendar to see what's happening now, and what's coming up.
  • The student-led Duke University Union (DUU) is your ticket to Broadway, radio, music, comedy, film and more. Duke students can catch movies, concerts, poetry readings, and open-mic nights at the Coffeehouse on East Campus. Recently, DUU has brought the Roots, Zap Mama!, Bob Dylan, and Oliver Stone, among many, many others, to campus.
  • The Duke Performances 2006-2007 series includes Theatre Nohgaku, the Drummers of Burundi, and the Male Voice Choir of Wales.
  • The American Dance Festival has been held at Duke for more than 25 years. Each year it brings the world's finest and most celebrated dance companies to Durham.
