Academics: Beyond the ClassroomAcademic Advising and Support | Internships | Study Abroad | Other Off-Campus Programs | Research Opportunities and Grants | Technology and Learning
At Duke, a student's education doesn't end at the classroom door. Our students have a wide variety of opportunities to enhance and supplement in-class learning with rich, diverse hands-on experiences. Among other things, Duke students are interning in molecular genetics laboratories at the Duke University Medical Center, examining Renaissance paintings in Florence, studying the finer points of entertainment law in Los Angeles, tracking birds on coastal estuaries, and conducting groundbreaking research alongside faculty members—even during their first year on campus! On- and off-campus, in the United States and abroad, in the humanities and the natural sciences—the opportunities are limitless. Through our various programs, Duke students are able to move beyond the lecture hall so that they can delve into issues they want to learn more about, get a taste of future career possibilities, and gain insight into the broader picture. And if the existing opportunities aren't enough, we're always willing to help students create their own. |
